We are conveniently located just east of the Mississippi River off from Interstate 80.

From Iowa, cross into Illinois on I-80 and take Exit 1.  Turn right onto I-84.  Turn right on 17th Street (after TBK Bank).  At the Y intersection, keep right on 8th Avenue.  At the yield sign, turn right onto 207th Street.  Pass weigh station and The New Prairie Lodge, turn left to New Horizon Kennel.

From Illinois, take Exit 2 from I-88 E.  Turn left onto Old Illinois Route 2.  Turn left on Friedends Road, keep left at T intersection.  Continue on to 207th Street.  Pass LED weigh station sign and turn right to New Horizon Kennel.

The best times to come are between the hours of 10am and 3pm Monday – Saturday if you are able. These times are outside of our scheduled pet arrivals and departures, allowing for more one-on-one time. Please let us know if you are unable to visit during these times, and we will do our utmost to accommodate your needs.

Activities; oh, how we love them! We offer group play for those who are a regular part of our enrichment program. We also offer family play, private play, leashed walks, cuddle sessions, and in the summer months, swim time.  Don’t forget our full-service SPAW. Stay tuned for announcements of new activity offerings!

We currently accept cash or check payments. Fees are due at the time of service, apart from custom retail items, and deposits for both first-time clients and for reserving placement within our canine training program. Custom orders and deposits are due at booking.

For canines, current rabies, distemper combo, Bordetella and a negative fecal annually.

For felines, current rabies, and feline distemper.

We do accommodate vaccine sensitive or exempt pets with proper documentation from their attending veterinarian.

Our Pet Care Team provides full care between 7am and 9pm daily. Our founders also live on-site.

We take pets of all ages. Young puppies are welcome so long as they are current on their vaccines (as appropriate for their age) and have a negative fecal. We love the senior pups too and have activities and accommodations for their unique needs.

We pride ourselves in having an all-indoor facility. Your pet will benefit from four private let outs daily when they can roam freely in one of our many outside yards. Our dedicated Pet Care team provides the hands-on attention to/from that your pets desire. We can further properly identify additional let out needs for those who benefit from extra opportunities based on age, prescriptions, and/or medical needs.

Yes, we do! We have several procedures in place to properly care for intact animals in our care.

Absolutely. We care for many animals with complex medical care and needs including diabetics and epileptics. We have several detailed procedures in place to effectively manage standard and unique medical needs. Great care is used in understanding the details surrounding your pet’s care and we work closely with the veterinarian providers when supplemental details are needed. A medical fee will apply to pets who receive injections, have more than three medical care items daily, and/or have unique care needs.

Because our services are in high demand, we do have a cancellation policy.

For PEAK dates, a cancellation fee of $75 will apply, per pet, for any PEAK reservation cancelled less than 10 days prior to the scheduled arrival date.

During NON-PEAK dates, a cancellation fee of $50 will apply, per pet, for any NON-PEAK reservation cancelled less than 5 days prior to the scheduled arrival date.

We encourage you to bring your dog’s food, packaged in individual meals, when possible, any treats that your pet routinely receives at home, and up to two durable chew toys. Alternatively, high-quality house food is available for a small charge. Litter and litter boxes are provided for our feline friends. Please do not bring full-sized bags of dog food, or large storage bins, unless your pet’s stay requires a high volume of kibble.

All medication and supplements should come in their original packaging and will be dosed out in accordance with our internal procedures. Any supplies that are needed to accompany prescription delivery, or medical care, should be provided by the owner. New Horizon provides an orthopedic bed for all canine and feline guests. We also supply all food and water dishes.

We do have provisions for raw, refrigerated, or frozen meals.

Lodging Services:  we offer 8:00am to 10:00am and 4:00pm to 6:00pm Monday through Saturday for both drop-off and pick-up. We also offer 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Sunday evenings.

Enrichment program dogs can arrive as early as 7:30am, Monday through Friday.

Grooming pets who are arriving solely for grooming services have two options available, Monday – Saturday:  8:00am or noon.

Lodging charges begin on the day of arrival and continue through the day of pick-up. There is no daily charge for pets picked up between 8:00am and 10:00am, Monday through Saturday. As a reminder, Sunday morning pick-ups are not available.
